Confetti & Streamers

The Return Of Cruising Brings Celebratory Old-School Sailaway To Mind

Back in the olden days (LoLz), sailaway was celebrated a little differently than it is today. You can see it on old episodes of The Love Boat where people literally threw a ton of paper overboard! On actual cruises, people were celebrating a detachment from their woes and worries

leaving them ashore not to think of them again until their return.

Environmental consciousness put an end to that type of departure. From injury to marine wildlife to the unnecessary loss of trees to land pollution and the effort needed by the ship’s crew to clean up the mess made by all that flying paper, the confetti and streamers sailaway was doomed.

More recently, it’s been the sailaway party on the Lido by the pool! Loud music, line dancing, and celebrating life at sea as the skyline fades into the distance. Well, the last seven months or so have brought a moratorium for cruises and any other form of travel. What will sailaway look like once cruising does return? Other than complaining about being cooped up; worrying about the state of the travel industry, and wondering if we’ll ever satisfy our wanderlust again, all anyone could do is hope for the best and any sense of normalcy.

But now it looks as though our wishes and prayers have been answered!

As we celebrate (yes, CELEBRATE) the return of cruising from the US, we still face many challenges. But let’s first be grateful for all the return of service will bring.

Not only does it mean getting back out to sea for many, the cruise industry is an important part of the world’s economy – don’t let anyone tell you different. Not only does it mean jobs for those onboard, it also enhances the quality of life for many working shoreside at the cruise terminals, in the company headquarters, the suppliers, ground transportation to and from the ports, hotels, restaurants, airlines, airports, shops, etc., etc., etc.

If you are a fan of cruising yearning for another voyage, join the celebration. VoyageNow! Or at least when it becomes feasible for you. There are cruise vacations available all the way through 2022. And there’s a sailing to suit every taste and timetable!

As they slowly add ships into active service, the cruise lines are excited about welcoming you aboard. It’s a pleasure to present you with the latest promotions and sailing opportunities as TravPortUSA strives to make cruising as easy as Ready!Set!VoyageNow!

Many will say that all the policies, protocols, and restrictions will take the fun out of shipboard life. But still, let’s put as much sexy back into cruising as we can!

Come Sail Away!
